Grab your camera and head outside. Asbury Cottage has several varieties of flowering perennials, shrubs and trees that will challenge your macro photography skills. Blossoms are abundant throughout the year. And don’t forget to look up! Sammy, the resident squirrel, is frequently posing in the backyard trees.

#2 – Riverwalk Behind Christmas Place/Econo Lodge
This is a hidden gem in Pigeon Forge, so don’t give away our little secret. It is a beautiful new walkway along the river with plenty of benches, picnic tables and a pavillion – all with excellent views of the river and wildlife. You won’t be disappointed in this spot – with or without your camera.

– Groundhogs – Cormorants – Pigeons – Song Birds – Butterflies & More!
#3 – The Old Mill District
This is probably the most photographed area in Pigeon Forge. The historic grist mill along the Little Pigeon River never fails to provide beautiful images from every angle. Try experimenting with different angles, close-ups, wide angles, black and whites, and different times of the day. You will frequently see the numerous ducks, geese and pigeons who make the Old Mill their home. And you won’t want to miss the flower gardens across the street at the Old Mill Pottery and Café. The blacksmith shop also provides a photographic opportunity for capturing the hand craft of times gone by.
#4 – The Island
Fountains, flowers, decorations and the ever changing colors of The Smoky Mountain Wheel, brings opportunities for photographers throughout every season. Capture a rainbow in the fountain or a fabulous Smoky Mountain sunset behind the wheel. Use your imagination for some unique shots. The carousel is one of my favorites to photograph. Night time shots are fun, also.

I use a Canon Rebel T6 with a Tamron 18-400 zoom lens. The Canon Rebel T6 ($399 w/lots of accessories) is an affordable, entry-level DSLR camera that works well at home or in the field.
The Tamron 18-400 lens ($649 w/accessories) is perfect for traveling. It will capture excellent landscape shots, as well as having a great zoom for those close-ups. With this lens, there is no need to carry two separate ones and have to switch out for different shots. It is my “go-to” lens every time when I am heading to Cades Cove!
I also use the camera bag that comes with this bundle. It has a backpack strap and plenty of space for my Canon T6, lens, extra batteries and more!
